Fraser Macdonald
Fraser specialises in using cross-sector collaboration to solve the most complex problems.
He is currently Project Development Manager at the Data for Children Collaborative with UNICEF, based within The Data Lab. The ambitious programme is aimed at using data to improve the outcomes for children locally, nationally, and globally, through responsible innovation.
Before this role, he was director of DataFest, the first festival of data innovation held in Scotland.
Fraser is also Chair of the newly formed Young Scot Data Advisory Group, which supports the Charity by helping shape ideas that will benefit Scotland’s young people.
Outside of work, Fraser is a keen cyclist and surfer. He is also obsessed with converting campervans.

Measuring the impact of using data for good at the Data for Children Collaborative with UNICEF
How does the Data for Children Collaborative with UNICEF measure its impact? Measuring and demonstrating impact of Data for Good projects can be a challenge. We will talk through how we address this challenge in the Data for Children Collaborative with UNICEF. The project is a unique partnership between UNICEF, The Scottish Government and the University of Edinburgh which aims to use responsible innovative data science techniques to improve children’s lives.
